This unique fern (which doesn’t look like a fern at all) has adorable heart shaped leaves on dark, almost black stems. This fern stays on the small size (under a foot) and can handle low to moderate light conditions. It can also be grown epiphytically or in soil. The Heart Leaf Fern prefers to be in a room that is kept above 60°F and has a good amount of humidity. Set in a tray of pebbles under the pot and fill with water to increase humidity around the plant if needed. This unusual fern would make a great houseplant to have on a coffee table or window shelf and would certainly spark conversation. USDA Hardiness Zone 10-12 Container Gardens/Terrariums/Houseplant:Hemionitis arifolia – Heart Leaf Fern will do very well in a terrarium or container. It also makes a great houseplant in low to moderate light conditions. Vivariums/Animal Terrariums:This unusual fern can be used in small to large vivariums as it stays below 12” high. Place in a well drained location in the vivarium and provide good light.
