The Waveshare SN65HVD230 CAN Board is a reliable communication evaluation and development board designed to provide ESD protection for connecting MCUs to a CAN network. It is capable of handling speeds of up to 1Mbps. Customers have successfully used this device with various microcontrollers, including Teensy 3.6, Teensy 3.2, and ESP8266. It has also been used to interface to NMEA2000 networks. One customer lamented the lack of documentation, while another regretted the inability to solder headers or terminate resistors. Although it is a tiny device, it works well and does not require any additional resistors for termination when used for vehicle CAN work like OBD2.
