The Bruynzeel Design Pastel Pencils come in a set of 48 and are marketed as soft and creamy with vibrant colours. They are touted to blend well and come presented in a lovely cabinet with a color chart included. A customer experiencing spontaneous combustion with one of the pencils is yet to be encountered. Some customers have noticed that some of the pencils that they received are marked as being made in the Czech Republic or China rather than Holland where they used to be produced. The pencils are pastel chalk-style pencils which work well on paper with vivid colours that blend nicely, but some artists find them too crumbly and too soft. They break apart easily and transfer pigment with only a light touch. Many artists suggest using a wrist pad while using the pencils. While these soft pastel pencils come with a fabulous packaging, the set contains very few pink-toned pencils—only one to be precise—that are not enough to cater to artists' needs. Also, there is no colour identification on the pencil, and some colours seem unnecessarily too close. In summary, the Bruynzeel Design Pastel Pencils may not be the best choice for beginners, but they are loved by pastel art experts for their blendability and vivid colours.
