Focusrite Audio Interfaces AMS-SCARLETT-18I20-2ND-GE Editorial Review
The Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface has garnered a positive reception among customers, particularly for its impressive audio quality and reliability over long-term use. Many users have praised the interface for its eight microphone preamps, stating that it provides exceptional sound quality and is ideal for both home studios and live recordings. The interface's sturdy build quality has also been commended, making it a suitable choice for mobile studio setups. While some users experienced a learning curve with the Focusrite Control software, they ultimately found it necessary for configuration and sound routing. After initial setup, most reported that using the device became a smooth and efficient process. Though a small amount of latency was noted, particularly with slower computers, the interface performed admirably for the majority of users’ recording needs. There was some criticism regarding compatibility with older computer systems, specifically with built-in USB ports. However, on updated systems, the 18i20 worked seamlessly, further enhancing its appeal for both amateur and professional users. Focusrite’s customer service also received high marks, with tech support going above and beyond to assist users with setup issues. Overall, the Scarlett 18i20 is hailed as a solid investment for anyone serious about audio recording, offering a feature set that is hard to match at its price point. **
