Rokinon SLR Camera Lenses 50M-C Editorial Review
The Rokinon 50mm f1.4 lens is a manual focus full-frame lens that produces excellent depth of field when shot wide open at f1.4 with a full-frame camera at the minimum focal distance. Chromatic aberration is bad up to f8, and anything higher than f11 is too soft and unusable. It produces soft and washed out images when shot at f1.4 in all lighting conditions, making it difficult to focus as the focus ring is very touchy. It is a good starter lens for those new to photography, but photos taken with it are more suitable for online outputs than printed media. It's excellent for shooting video and produces a cinematic feel when used for that purpose. However, it's not ideal for interviews because of the low sharpness when opened up at or near its maximum aperture of f1.4. The lens is a hit or miss product, grappling with quality control, and pricing issues. Manual focusing the lens is challenging with the focus ring being too sensitive. The lens is not autofocus, making it only usable on manual mode. The suggestion is to use the Sony branded lens to take advantage of A6000 specifically the eye auto-focus that saves time when taking portraits. The Rokinon is not suitable for concerts.
