Winning Moves Board Games Editorial Review
The Deluxe Pente Strategy & Capture board game is a strategy game recommended for ages 8 and above that is easy to learn, yet competitive. The gameplay is essentially the same as the original. The board that comes with the game is a roll-up mat with 1" squares, and the game includes approximately 30 stones of different colours. While similar to Go, Pente is shorter, quicker, and more intense. The game is suitable for all ages, and up to four players can participate, although it is more fun with more players. Reviewers praised the game's quality and easy-to-understand rules, with some stating it was a fun game with excellent competitive spirit. However, some reviewers found the pieces to be too small and unevenly sized, and the board stains easily. Others found the roll-up mat board difficult to play on as it was not flat or hard. The box was heavy, with 75% cardboard fillers, and there was no case.
