Stephen King All Books Editorial Review

Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King is a novella that tells the story of a small town in Maine that is terrorized by a werewolf on a monthly basis. The story follows a formula that revolves around days that only fall during the lunar calendar. The protagonist here is an unlikely one - wheelchair-bound Marty Coslaw, who manages not only to escape the werewolf but even wounds the creature. The rest of the story is spent building the scene for Marty to take on the monster. The novella is short and easy to read, with quick sketches of characters that are better than what is found in most horror fiction. King's punchy and visceral writing style manages to capture the atmosphere of the small town.
