Answer: I am not sure. I bought it thinking it came with the center shaft and it did not. -

Do these get really noisy like my Marineland one? Vibration causes a bunch of racket and is super annoying. Looking for something that stays quiet.
Answer: All HOB’s (Hang On Back) filters as well as canister filters, powerheads, etc. Use the same basic motor w/ an impeller to drive or pump the water. Regular cleaning is important to avoid noise. Bi-monthly maintenance on the filter/impeller area can make it quieter. Bigger changes like keeping the motor/impeller inside the aquarium can make the filters much quieter. Lubricate the o-ring on any HOB or canister filter twice a year with silicone-based lube. -

Question:
How do you remove the whole original piece from the motor? When I pull up on it, only the white fan part comes off.
Answer: The cylindrical piece is a permanent magnet and is only held in place by the magnetic force. The plastic impeller just slides onto the shaft. Remove the impeller. Then use needle nose pliers to pull the magnet out of the motor. Replace the magnet and impeller with new one.
