Answer: Hi, I got 1 tiny starfish in mine, but the picture is very deceiving they come in a grip seal bag with a couple of normal standard size shells, but more than 80% of them are mainly made up of tiny shells no bigger than your fingernail, really not worth the money, they wouldn't be suitable to put in a net as they are so small they would fall through the holes. -

Answer: No they won't all fit in. However. we used glass jars which worked well, especially as we are trying to save our oceans from plastic! An alternative if you need to use plastic bottles would be to cut the top off and tie string around, or make holes in the sides, to make a carry hand -

How environmentally sustainable are these? Are they sourced from non-threatened habitats and species and without damaging the environment
Answer: It's highly unlikely that these are sustainably sourced, most of these are byproduct of dredging and other unsustainable fishing methods. The only way to be truly sure is to use only things you have collected washed up on the beach yourself, not easy in the UK! It's really sad to see starfish like this being used for vase decorations, poor things have just been left to bake to death in the sun. -

Are these safe to put in a freshwater fish tank ?
Answer: Yes, very safe. Ensure the shells are sterilised in hot boiling water, then allow to cool and dry; before placing in the tank.
